Fitness Franchises Tops in Entrepreneur’s 2024 Franchise 500 Spotlight

Crunch Fitness has emerged as the unrivaled champion in Entrepreneur’s 2024 Franchise 500 Ranking, securing the top spot among fitness brands. The annual list, released by Entrepreneur, celebrates the prowess of various franchises across industries, with Crunch Fitness leading the charge in the health and wellness sector.

The evaluation criteria encompassed factors such as associated costs, support, size, growth, and brand strength. Crunch Fitness not only claimed the overall top spot at #29 but also showcased its aggressive expansion plans. A Michigan franchisee plans to open 75 new Crunch Fitness gyms with private equity backing.

Following closely behind, Anytime Fitness secured the #77 spot and recently partnered with Apple Fitness+ to enhance its member offerings. Omega Fitness, the second-largest Anytime Fitness franchisee in the U.S., has expansion plans following its acquisition by a private equity firm. Orangetheory Fitness, a heart-rate-based boutique fitness franchise, clinched the #96 spot and is eyeing the U.K. for international growth.

Xponential Fitness brands also left their mark on the list, with Club Pilates (#202), Pure Barre (#224), StretchLab (#356), CycleBar (#411), and YogaSix (#472) achieving significant rankings. StretchLab, specializing in assisted stretching, opened a location every three days in the previous year.

Entrepreneur’s 2024 Franchise 500 Ranking highlighted various fitness concepts, from personal training to camp-style fitness. The Exercise Coach claimed the top spot in personal training at #159, Gold’s Gym secured #176, and Burn Boot Camp, the only camp-style fitness concept, impressed at #319.

Mayweather Boxing + Fitness dominated the boxing and functional training category at #357, while RockBox Fitness grabbed the #499 spot as a growing franchise in boxing, kickboxing, and functional strength training.

D1 Training, focusing on athletic training with 100-plus facilities, ranked at #446, emphasizing family workouts, group training, and scholastic training for an untapped market.

In the wellness sector, Perspire Sauna Studio (#336) and Prime IV Hydration & Wellness (#389) are recognized for infrared sauna, red light therapy, and anti-aging modalities. Perspire Sauna Studio is particularly thriving in the Texas market, while Prime IV Hydration & Wellness operates in over 30 states, with significant expansion in Arizona.

Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list highlights the success of fitness and wellness franchises. It also underscores the industry’s adaptability and appeal to entrepreneurs seeking lucrative opportunities in health and wellness.
