And now, Delivery Hero partners with Mastercard in the MENA region to fully digitise its payment. This includes UAE, Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan and Egypt through brands including talabat, HungerStation and Zomato. As a result, they aim to improve the consumer experience and financial security for consumers, riders and restaurants.
Ever since the Covid-19, there has been an increase in the online payments. For instance, the has been over 40% increase in Middle East and Africa (MEA) region within the first half of 2020. This includes Delivery Hero, one of the world’s leading local delivery platform, which has over 20 million users who order food using their app. The digitalisation will give them the benefit of using contactless payment method on delivery or use of digital wallets for their food orders.
The virtual card solution for the delivery riders will enable instant access to their earnings via their mobiles. In other words, over 650,000 riders will have near real-time earnings disbursements. In addition, they will have access to purchase in store, online with added benefits of lifestyle discounts.
Delivery hero has over 100,000 restaurant partners in the MENA region who will have better operational efficiencies due to faster and more secure payments. In addition, they can also make supplier purchases, pay employee salaries and transfer payments.
