1. How did you enter the franchise business?

In 2012, we already looked at the idea of a franchise. We have prepared a scheme, but we have not finally implemented the idea of a franchise system into practice. Maybe it wasn’t the right time then. We gradually consolidated our leading position in the Slovenia and opened a subsidiary company in Croatia in 2017. During this time, we equipped more than 10,000 buildings and we recently started working in the franchising area as well, as we felt ready to hand over our business model.

2. Where and how did the idea of your concept come from?

We wanted to develop a system, which would be responsive to customers, supply them with high-quality products and reduce the heating costs. In 15 years, we have developed a business model that works. We have developed our own CRM program, which provides us with support at every step. We have seen that such business model can work anywhere in the world.

4. What is the story behind the brand’s logo?

The birth of the company Ekosen was inspired by an irresistible desire to present products to the market that can improve the quality of living. Products that are both, sustainable, and have a beneficial effect on well-being and health.
First, I wrote a book on the meaning of buying. I wondered if we really needed everything that we buy, whether the investment in the purchase would pay off and whether we would live better because of it in a year time. I wanted to raise the awareness of the fact that spending large sums of money to create new and short-term pleasures is not a solution. I urged to buy less and of better quality, as the low-cost products have a bad effect on the natural environment and people.
From the beginning, my vision has been to offer products that save money in the long term and that have a long lifespan with as little maintenance as possible. That’s why we at Ekosen developed our own infrared heating system, which reflects our values, because our guiding principle is not money, but very satisfied customers and colleagues and a more beautiful planet.

5. What makes your brand different from your competitors?

What distinguishes us from others is that our goal is not only sales, but satisfied users and employees. We have a comprehensive approach with the clients, for whom we really take the time, listen to them and find the best solution for them. We have our own development of IR panels, a 15-year tradition, investment in the knowledge and innovation, and above all, teamwork. We are sustainable and pay a lot of attention to environmental care, we also try to act socially responsible and give back to the society in which we operate with various projects.

6. What are the essential qualities that you look for in a franchisee?

We are looking for a dynamic person/company with a wide perspective on life, who is charismatic, energetic and has a well-developed business streak. Of course, he must have a high level of trust in the Ekosen brand.

7. How long does it take, on average, for your franchisee to realize their investment?

The investment will be repaid within 2 years.

8. What was the major challenge you faced in your career and how did you overcome it?

Balancing family and business life for sure. This requires a lot of effort, coordination, adaptation and sacrifice in all areas. My wife and I have a common goal and desire, and we both keep our promises, so we “passed the test” well and can now create together.
However, there were a lot of challenges. They are an integral part of entrepreneurship and there is no progress without overcoming them. I am never afraid of challenges, I always face them and do everything to overcome them. With this method and with a good team, we always reach the goal, for which I am extremely grateful.

8.1 What is your best achievement?

The turning point was when we started to manufacture our own IR panels, the IR Sun regulator, CRM, and we developed our own advanced regulation for heating. Through continuous development and innovation, we ensure the top quality of our products and a positive experience for users with the infrared heating method. I am proud of the entire Ekosena team, with whom we work hard and well.

9. How does your business day start?

At the beginning of the day, I first make a daily plan, organize my work to make the day as effective as possible.

10. What was your best moment throughout your franchise career?

We recently opened a franchise in Banja Luka. We have a partner in Ireland with whom we cooperate very well. This year we also presented ourselves at the ISH fair in Frankfurt, where we gained a lot of contacts and interest in selling our own panels elsewhere in Europe. I am proud of the fact that we are also building trust in other parts of the world.

11. Where do you see your brand in the next 5 years?

We are already considered one of the leading companies in our industry in Slovenia and we are actively investing in maintaining and upgrading this status. In the coming years, we want to establish ourselves more significantly on the market and become the most recognizable brand for IR heating in the world. With our commitment to quality, constant innovation and respect for nature, we aim to exceed expectations. The goal and ambition of Ekosen is to develop energy-efficient products that improve the quality of life, to provide excellent advice and expertise, and to successfully implement the company’s strategic plans in order to contribute to the development of a sustainable and ecologically oriented future.
