Konstantinos Sarris-Tzamtzis is an International Franchise Advisor at FC&D The Development Experts. Franchise Consulting and Development as the name suggests has truly been the development expert since 1989. Moreover they have been a member of the Greek Franchise Association since its inception. Further, they include brands like Man & Manetti, Fresh Line, Archaion Geyseis, Beer Academy, Carierra Business & Computing School, PANSIK Scuola di Moda – Art & Design, Eurognosi, The Garden Concept, Baboulas Funeral, Fiorentino LFS, Frutti Di Mare, Pegasus Expert and Dyslexia Centers.
1. How did you enter in the franchise business?
I have been working since March 1987 following my studies as IT Manager in a Foreign Language training company which had its own network of 10 schools in Athens. The owner of the business in January 1988 informed us about the Franchising method which he chose to develop his business. After research and a lot of study, my team and I designed the Business Franchise System based on the principles of Business Format Franchising. Then, I was assigned the Franchise Department, as a result of which we developed a network of 40 schools throughout Greece before I left to create in June 1989 the company FC&D The Development Experts, in which I continue to work.
2. What are the services that you provide to your clients?
Full range of Franchise Services (System Design, Consulting, Development, Training, Marketing, Real Estate, HR, Support)
3. What are the criteria that you look for in a franchise brand to be part of your clientele?
The respect from the Founder of the brand to the principles of Franchising
4. What makes your organization different from your competitors?
The way we perceive and utilize the uniqueness of each brand.
5. What are the essential qualities that your clients look for in a franchisee?
The main characteristics are the personal interest for the brand as well as the personal involvement of the Franchisee in combination with the observance of the procedures and principles of the Franchising.
6. How long does it take, in an average, for your franchisee to realize their investment?
In our experience this can vary from 1-5 months
7. What was the major challenge you faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?
I faced a big challenge when the market laughed with us because we undertook some specialized Franchise systems. I was honestly scared, but we did not give up as we believed in the brands of their owners, but also in the preparation we always do. The result forced the market to change its approach.
7.1. What is your best achievement?
The respect from the Franchisors and Franchisees that we have served to date and from the market as well. Also that we managed to develop FC&D The Development Experts with Franchising inside and outside Greece.
8. How does your business day start?
The working day starts with coffee, news and meeting with my colleagues.
9. What was your best moment throughout your franchise career?
When we signed the 3rd Franchise Agreement in 1988 as we confirmed the system we had designed and implemented with my team.
10. Where do you see your brand in the next 5 years?
My vision is to grow the FC&D The Development Expert network as well as gain even more Franchisees and Franchisors friends
11. Any tips you want to impart to our readers who want to be in the franchise industry?
Franchise in my opinion is the best method to develop a business in the world. We talked about the best Franchisor above but we will have to talk about the best Franchisee as well cause without him there is no Franchising. The best Franchisee is one who will work in the business he/she wants looking for that Brand that has the same philosophy with him/her.
