One wing to rule them all – Lord of the Wings

Match your taste buds to some kickass flavors at the Lord of Wings. The Middle East’s first concept offering build-your-own burgers and chicken wings. Their concept fits in high-traffic destinations as well as stand-alone, in malls or on high streets. Lord of the Wings was founded by brothers Marc and Joseph Moudabber. In this interview with Marc, Managing Partner and Co-Founder, he shares his plans to further expand the footprint of franchises across the globe.

1. How did you enter the franchise business?

It was our own initiative to grow in and beyond the birth country of our concept.

2. Where and how did the idea of your concept come from?

We identified a lack of the only single item specialty in the Middle East at that point in time and we developed the concept accordingly.

3. What inspired the brand name?

Given our expertise in our offering, chicken wings, thus the name Lord of the Wings.

4. What is the story behind the brand’s logo?

A graphic designer friend loved the name and delivered one of the most striking logos to suit the positioning of the brand.

5. What makes your brand different from your competitors?

Lord of the Wings caters to the taste buds of every market without losing its essence. A variation of the cookie cutter formula.It is also modular to operate in a food court as well as in a dedicated dining area.

6. What are the essential qualities that you look for in a franchisee?

7. How long does it take, on average, for your franchisee to realize their investment?

In principal, satisfactory franchising returns require medium term periods.

8. What was the major challenge you faced in your career and how did you overcome it?

-Currency fluctuation
-And royalties collection

The best is yet to come.

9. How does your business day start?

By planning to tackle the priorities first.

10. What was your best moment throughout your franchise career?

Every time we get referrals from existing franchisees.

11. Where do you see your brand in the next 5 years?

After Covid-19, we decided to reposition our brand to the QSR and Fast Casual segments. In the next 5 years we will adopt new technologies to propel us forward in the increasingly competitive market of chicken.

12. Any tips you want to impart to our readers who want to be in the franchise industry?

First, invest in a franchise which product you understand or are interested in. Second, respect the business model and third, adequate capitalization is recommended to service the budgeted capex and the operation afterwards.
