Today, we interview Nader Ashqar, the Founder and General Manager of Komat Qash Bakery House (website link) and this is what he told us:

1. How did you enter the franchise business?

With the beginning of our project, we received a beautiful response from people, and the demand for our products was great, and our spread on the social media reached all over the states of Jordan and outside Jordan.

Due to number of inquiries, we had about if we have other branches in other countries and number of investors were interested in having a branch we thought of getting into the franchise business were it is a good indicator of potential success in other countries.

2. Where and how did the idea of your concept come from?

Our family loves to make bread, loaf, and layers of croissant. We enjoy sitting in the kitchen through chilling winter mornings and smell the heavenly aroma of something being baked in the oven.
It started as a love story and developed by studying baking techniques in an institute in Australia. Living in a country like Australia where you will find all diverse communities and culture comes together, main idea of having a Bakery house is that bread is part of every culture in the world and main objective is to produce different types of bread to bring the diverse of communities as one.

3. What inspired the brand name?

Komat Qash in English is Haystack which means agricultural crops for example wheat, barley, oats, corn etc. and what you can make from these seeds to bake fresh goodies with a delicious smell.

4. What is the story behind the brand’s logo?

The circle represents the moon, the sun, the earth and the various agricultural crops that the earth grows, Patience day and night until the crops ripen and the ears grow to make the best different baked goods, so we all start our day with a freshly baked bread.

5. What makes your brand different from your competitors?

The idea is new / breaking the rule for traditional bakeries. The name is distinct, powerful and has a deep meaning.

The decor is beautiful and fits with the product and creates a feeling of comfort, warmth, and love with the smell of bread as if you were at home.

Excellence in the good taste of all our products. The presence of such products only in luxury hotels has become today accessible to everyone and with the highest quality.

We offer the finest bread with the finest coffee. Prices are affordable. One of the basics of daily life.

6. What are the essential qualities that you look for in a franchisee?

Hard working with a desire to succeed.
Business minded or own other businesses.
Has the ability to work within a system.
Financially stable.
Has a full time leader to run the business.

7. How long does it take, on average, for your franchisee to realize their investment?

The ROI is usually 24 to 36 months.

8. What was the major challenge you faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?

Before starting our project, we studied the problems faced by restaurants and bakeries around the world and in different cultures. And we found the problem that most stores face is that relying on individuals for baking, cooking, or even the store system.

We dealt with this problem by relying on a well-thought-out and written system for all the steps of the shop, from the recipe, the method to bake, and the management.

And we established the shop on modern scientific systems and studied plans, written, and electronically preserved.

8.1.What is your best achievement?

The presence of our customers constantly and their return to us and their dependence on our products. Our clients are of all ages, males and females, children, women, youth, the elderly and families. They are from different cultures and religions and from different classes.

9. How does your business day start?

First I make sure that all stores have enough stock of products. Then I make sure that the staff and management are in place. Make sure that operations is running smoothly after that quick break with a cup of coffee and croissants.

10. What was your best moment throughout your franchise career?

The moment we announced our readiness for the franchise program.

11. Where do you see your brand in the next 5 years?

Around the world.
