The Man behind FranchisingPH – Rudolf Kotik

The man behind FranchisingPH Magazine is CEO Rudolf Kotik. He has developed more than 800 Companies in the Philippines, Middle East and Australia. FranchisingPH publishes franchising news from the Philippines and worldwide bi-monthly.

1. How did you enter in the franchise business?

40 years ago my career in Franchising started in Europe. During 1995 I moved to the Philippines and started RK Franchise Consultancy, which became in the meantime the biggest Franchise Consultancy in South East Asia and FIFA Filipino International Franchise Association followed in 2005.

2. Where and how did the idea of your concept come from?

Since I had knowledge of Franchising from my employment with 2 Franchise Companies and one Franchise Consultancy, it was easy for me to form my own concept of Consulting in Franchising.

3. What inspired the brand name?

Franchising in the Philippines and using my initials for my Company name to demonstrate I am behind the brand personally.

4. What is the story behind the brand’s logo?

Behind RK Franchise Consultancy brand logo is my initial as I give my name to the prestige of the Company and in the case of FIFA it is a circle since it is a global Franchise Consultancy based in the Philippines.

5. What makes your brand different from your competitors?

We are most flexible and very much customer-oriented.

6. What are the essential qualities that you look for in a franchisee?

Franchisee should always be willing to adapt 100% the system of the Franchisor.

7. How long does it take, in an average, for your franchisee to realize their investment?

Generally in SE Asia, the Investment payback period is usually 2 years.

8. What was the major challenge you faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?

Being Innovative helps a lot when you encounter developments for the first time in a particular field.

9. What is your best achievement?

Having developed the best known Filipino Family Restaurant Gerry’s Grill and the biggest independent Petroleum Company Phoenix Petroleum with 600 stations into Franchise Systems.

10. How does your business day start?

Usually, my day starts by talking to my 24 employees.

11. What was your best moment throughout your franchise career?

We are having it right now since we operate in SE Asia, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand.

12. Where do you see your brand in the next 5 years?

Still operating in the same markets SE Asia, Middle East and Oceania

13. Any tips you want to impart to our readers who want to be in the franchise industry?

Definitely the best way to expand a business is to franchise it out and if you have money to invest, buy a franchise!
