Origin of Charleys Philly Steaks

If you are a meat lover, there is a good chance you would have taken a bite of the Cheesesteak. A Cheesesteak is a sumptuous sandwich loaded with sliced steak and cheese. Since this was originally from Philadelpia in USA, it is also called the Philly Steak. It later became very popular around the world as a delicious fast food.

Origin of Charleys Philly Steaks

Charleys Philly Steaks founder and CEO Charley Shin tasted his first Philly Cheesesteak back in 1985. At that time he was an undergraduate student attending The Ohio State University. Almost instantly he decided to share the delicious sandwich experience with the world. So he started to experiment with different ingredients till he perfected his recipe. His entrepreneurial aspirations came to life in 1986 when he opened his first restaurant Charley’s Steakery. It was a 450-square foot space near The Ohio State University campus. Soon the restaurant became popular with the students. Consecutively with an increase in demand, Chin developed a franchise plan. Together they served made-fresh Philly Cheesesteaks, loaded Gourmet Fries and all-natural Lemonades. Their latest addition is Boneless and Classic Wings.

Today they are at 600 locations in 46 states and in 17 countries. Charleys can be found in retail shopping centers, airports, strip centers, and Army & Air Force bases worldwide. They serve up the #1 Cheesesteak In The World® made with fresh, quality ingredients, always grilled-to-order. Similarly, they use only premium ingredients like 100% USDA choice steak* and 100% all-white meat chicken. In addition to their all-natural cheeses and hand-cut vegetables.

Charleys Kids Foundation

Ever since the origin of Charleys Philly Steaks, they have always valued the community they serve. Hence Charleys Kids Foundation was created. They helped to reach out to the less fortunate children with educational resources, food and mentor-ship. With every combo meal sold domestically at participating locations, 20 cents goes towards the Charleys Kids Foundation.
